Similarities Between the HCG and Keto Diets
First, like the ketogenic diet, the HCG plan is a low-carb diet designed to increase energy and weight loss. Keto diets use the body’s fat as a source of energy, meaning your body burns more fat in a shorter amount of time. On the HCG plan, HCG is a unique and necessary addition that helps the diet meet its goal – the same as every other keto plan – forcing the body into ketosis. Deprivation of carbohydrates forces the body into this harmless natural process, where the body breaks down fats in the liver and produces ketones. This results in stabilized hunger, increased weight loss, blood sugar control, lowered blood pressure and cholesterol, and increased mental performance. Although, the HCG plan brings about ketosis, it’s still very different from the traditional low-carb diet.
Differences Between the HCG and Keto Diets
The key differences between the HCG and keto diets include:
- The HCG Plan Requires HCG Injections or Drops
The HCG hormone is used to regulate metabolism and enhance weight loss and physical performance. During the diet, injections or liquid drops help control the appetite and optimize weight loss. HCG can also be administered via pills, pellets or tablets. However, the injections or drops are more common and more effective.
- HCG is a Low-Calorie Diet
The ketogenic diet is low-carb, but there’s no set amount for caloric intake. In fact, there are no rules for the number of calories an individual on the keto diet can consume each day. Essentially, a dieter can eat as much as they want, but metabolism stabilization will help control the appetite. On the other hand, the HCG plan is a 500-calorie diet. Because of the addition of the HCG hormone, dieters only need 500 calories per day. Plus, the low number of calories makes the plan more successful at providing large amounts of fat loss in a short period of time.
- HCG is a Low-Fat Diet
Another major difference between HCG and the keto diet is that the HCG Diet is low fat. The ketogenic diet is extremely high fat. In fact, 70% of the diet is made up of fats, including high-fat meats, dairy, vegetables and oils. This is because the diet relies on ketosis to use that fat and help the body burn it off quickly.
On the other hand, the HCG plan is low-fat, with the dominating principle of removing as much fat from the diet as possible, allowing the body to use the fat in its fat stores. Fat stored in the belly, buttocks and thighs is used up, targeting and getting rid of fat specifically in those areas. The low-fat diet helps make the fat-burning process faster and more effective, so dieters have the opportunity to lose more weight during the plan.

Hi, my name is Kisla, and I’m 49. I’m very interested in losing weight faster as possible. My question is; Can I use HCG to combine with the keto diet?
Hi Kisla, No you can’t they are 2 completely different weight loss methods. What did you end up doing?
How can I goes to keto diet if I am in Hcg ending? What is the appropiate way?
Hi Zenaida, I just seen this question now. Did you end up doing the Keto diet after HCG? How did it go?
Hi, I have just finished my 4th round of HCG diet, I am on my 3 week maintance and would like to get into Keto diet after maintenance but I am scared of eating that much fat and put on weight again with Keto diet.
Hey Jackie, 4 rounds on HCG? How much weight did you lose? I recommend intermittent fasting over the Keto Diet. It is much more sustainable. Let me know your experience so far.
Hi Warrior. Can we chat privately. I’m trying to decide between veganex Keto supplements or HCG. I have some HCG in the past. Thanks
Sure, I have experience with both the Keto Diet and the HCG Diet. They are two completely different methods. The Keto Diet is a lifestyle diet that can last for the rest of your life. The HCG Diet is more of a Fat Cleanse as in it only lasts a period of 27-40 days and then you can move on to another lifestyle diet Like Keto or Intermittent fasting. This is what I recommend for people, HCG diet then intermittent fasting (rather than keto) because it is more sustainable for the average person. Can you tell me how much, if any, work out’s are advised while on hcg? I was advised to stay active, but not too active or it may create stalls…. I’m not sure what that exactly means(?) Any help is so appreciated:)
Hi Tami, staying active is not necessary. A thirty minute walk or a 1 hours yoga class is about as much exercise as we recommend. However it is not needed to see the pounds drop off. In fact in my case I didn’t notice the daily Yoga helped with weight loss. If you have to do some hard physical activity you may want to save your fruit snacks for 15 minutes prior and then 15 minutes after the intense part of your day. As for me, I do ab exercises 5 times a week during the diet (5-10 minutes per day) because it is fun to see the abdominals showing when you get some of that fat out of the way 🙂
Just starting hcg.. bout my drops along with the B12
Are the HCG drops as effective as the injections?
Hi Lisa, We just had a couple, Russel and Sandra, who did the injections a few years ago with success but wanted to try the our drops because it is a lot cheaper. They found that it is just as effective and way easier as they were driving all the way across the city for their injections. Russel was down 4.4 kg (9.7 pounds) in the first week and she was down about 6 pounds at the same time. I talked to Sandra a few days ago and she was a couple pounds short of her goal with a few days to go so they are extremely happy. I will ask them to do a testimonial for us because this is a common question. I hope this helps you.
Hi Looking for some advice from the Warrior please
I was doing Keto for about 18 months and LOVEd it.. Then started eating too many keto sweets and gained some weight. Decided I needed to detox and di a round of HCG (I have used hcg many times) It was a amazing round, I felt amazing lost 15 lbs, used the drops
anyway, in P3 week 3, just TOO Much stress and lots of unresolved emotional issues came up and I started eating sugar—seriously and gained 20 pounds in 6 weeks!
Now deciding what to do again…My dream? to hcg -maybe even a long round.. then P3 and transition into Keto/IF– I am starting a realy intense period at work so its great to be busy and also have the hcg take care of hunger…
what do you think of this plan? OR just go to keto and start IF as soon as I get into ketosis…(otherwise the cravings are too much)
Hi Mimi, I like combining the HCG diet with other diets. What I mean by that is that you can do the HCG diet and cut the weight really fast and then move into other lifestyle diets like Keto or Intermittent fasting etc… The cool thing about the HCG diet is it is not a forever diet and you just hit it and split it. I personally use the HCG drops when I fall off the wagon and then after I lose the weight, I go with intermittent fasting because it suits my lifestyle. I really hope this helps! Good luck
Are homeopathic drops effective?
Extremely effective. If you are sceptical, go ahead see what our warriors have to say who are currently doing the diet by joining our private Facebook group http://www.facebook.com/groups/hcgwarrior and if you don’t like what you see you can leave the group. Since you didn’t order the drops and want to just check it out, just write “checking things out” when prompted for your name or email you ordered with.
Hey can you explain IF for me? I’ve also been seeing the keto pills and wondering if after a round of hcg I go continue with basic principles of hcg eating but take the pills
Hi Ali, Intermittent fasting from me is not eating until Noon and then I stop eating at 8pm. So there is an 8 hour window of where I am allowed to eat food. You can shrink that window down to 4 or 6 hours to improve results. Some people even limit their food intake to one large meal for the day. You will have to see what works for you and your lifestyle. Its a great way to maintain.
I did the hcg diet years ago and I did 3 rounds and lost 67 lbs total and kept off for years but now after having a child and thyroid issues I cannot seem to lose weight at all and am considering a diet like this but also thought about keto. I just like how hcg diet kept weight off but was real hard while doing haha. I just am wondering will I be mad at results from a keto diet not losing fast like i did on hcg and do you recommend certain drops? Do the homeopathic drops work just as well? Thanks
